Op 5 november 2019 promoveerde Carolien Ruesen aan de Radboud Universiteit op het proefschrift getiteld ‘Understanding tuberculosis drug resistance, disease phenotype and transmission by mycobacterial genome analysis’. Het onderzoek werd verricht onder supervisie van promotoren prof. dr. R. van Crevel en prof. dr. M.A. Huynen, en copromotoren dr. J. van Ingen en dr. L. Chaidir. In dit artikel worden de belangrijkste bevindingen besproken.
