Op 6 september 2023 promoveerde Jelte Helfferich aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen op het proefschrift ‘Acute flaccid myelitis and enterovirus D68: where neurologist and microbiologist meet’. Het onderzoek werd verricht onder supervisie van promotoren prof. dr. O.F. Brouwer en prof. dr. H.G.M. Niesters. In dit artikel worden de belangrijkste bevindingen besproken.
