Op 21 september 2011 promoveerde dr. S. van Assen aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen op het proefschrift getiteld ‘Influenza vaccination in primary and secondary immunodeficiencies’. Het onderzoek is verricht op de afdeling Infectieziekten van het Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen, onder begeleiding van de promotor prof. dr. C.G.M. Kallenberg (UMC Groningen) en de copromotoren dr. M. Bijl (Martiniziekenhuis) en dr. A de Haan (UMC Groningen). Hieronder zijn de belangrijkste bevindingen beschreven.
